I dropped a few letters off to my neighbors in Los Angeles asking if I could photograph their home. I heard back from a guy that said his husband had designed and built him a home 30 years ago. I was like OK, when can I come over. I visited their home twice; once for a tour and the other to shoot. The home was built in 1989. His husband, the architect, integrated sustainable elements such as ‘scientific heating and cooling materials’ as I refer them; the square wooden panels in the windows absorb and disperse energy throughout the home. His workshop, in the lowest level of the home, is where he hand built the furniture, including the dinning room set and the mantel piece.
